| 2010 SQUAWK AND OINK BARBEQUE FESTIVAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. The decisions and interpretations of the 2010 Squawk and Oink Barbeque Festival rules and regulations are at the discretion of the Momence Park District. Their decisions and interpretations are final. 2. Each contestant may include a team as deemed necessary by the contestant, but no more than four individuals shall occupy a contestant's designated space at any time. a. Prizes shall be awarded for first, second and third place as determined by Judges b. One Prize (Best of Show) shall be awarded by Ballot submitted by Visitors c. Contestants must be set up on site by 10 AM d. Entries must be ready for judging by 12:30 PM 3. Contestants shall provide all needed equipment including but not limited to tables, cooking supplies, seasonings, tools and grill. 4. Contestant may choose only one type of entry (Pork Ribs or Chicken) to prepare for the contest. 5. Contestant must provide on entree for judging. (There will be 3 Judges). 6. Fires shall be contained and only consist of wood, wood pellets or charcoal. Propane, electric, etc. grills shall not be allowed. 7. Each contestant shall provide a portable fire extinguisher for their reserved space. 8. Each contestant shall check in at the Momence Park District Office on the day of the event at their designated time. All equipment and supplies including meat entries will be verified and approved at that time. NO changes may be made to any of the approved items following check in. 9. Prior to cooking and at check in, meat must be packed in ice and maintained at 40 degrees or less. 10. After cooking and at the time of serving to visitors and judges, meat much be held at a minimum of 165 degrees. 11. Sanitizing of work space is the responsibility of each contestant and should be implemented using a bleach/water rinse. Shirt and shoes are required at all times throughout the contest. 12. Each contestant will provide a separate container for washing/rinsing and sanitizing of cooking utensils. 13. No contestant shall independently sell meat products during the contest. Contestants are welcome to purchase vendor space to sell sauces, rubs, etc. separately. 14. Meat may be sauced, but sauce must be applied directly to the meat and may not be pooled or puddle in a separate container. 15. Any photographs or videos authorized or taken by the Momence Park District become the property of the District and the release of same is permitted at the discretion of the District. 16. No alcohol of any kind will be permitted to be used in the cooking or preparation of the entry nor may alcohol be consumed by the Contestant or any assistants. 17. All Judging will be done blind. Contestants will be provided with a numbered plate on which entry must be submitted for judging at the designated time. The Judges decision will be final. Only Judges and necessary support staff are allowed in the Judging area. 18. It is the responsibility of the contestant to see that the assigned space is clean and orderly following the contest. All fires must be put out and disposed of as directed by the Momence Park District Staff. All sites will be inspected before contestants are allowed to leave the Park. 19. Any violation of rules as determined by the Park District and its event staff will result in immediate disqualification and will prevent entry into future participation in Momence Park District sanctioned events. 20. Contestant agrees to indemnify and hold the Momence Park District, its employees, agents and volunteers harmless from any and all claims made on account of or resulting from Contestant's participation in the contest.
