COMMISSIONERS
AT
WORK!
Commissioners Steve Loftus (top and right) and Cathy Abbott visited
several small communities in western Illinois.  The independent
self-funded trip visit helped the Commissioners define projects
undertaken by communities similar in size and natural resources to
Momence.  Included in the fact finding mission was information
regarding funding for a variety of park projects.  Communities visited
included Dixon, Sterling, Phrophetstown, Orion and Aleso.  The
Commissioners also attended the 2009 Main Street Conference.   The
Park District is currently involved in developing and completing an
Interpretive Trail and Fishing Pavilion with financial assistance through
the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Union Pacific
Railroad.  The District continues to look to the future for alternative
avenues to tax dollars to fund additional improvements.
